Confirmed dates 2013
It occurs to me belatedly that I really should have announced this here. Sorry about that. It's been so long since posting to lj was second nature, and that does make me sad. D:D:D:
As mentioned at various times and in various places, the confirmed dates for get/together 2013 are the weekend of the 5th and 6th October, with festivities commencing on Friday 4th, and farewells Monday 7th if you're around.
If you have a twitter account, then make sure you follow @get__together, as that does tend to be where I make announcements in the heat of the moment. If not, I promise all future updates will arrive here in a more timely fashion.
Start thinking about presentations you might like to make, questions you'd like to submit for discussion, and just generally getting in the mood. It's only nine weeks away!
ETA: check comment thread from Dewey to call early dibs on accommodation if you need it.

But! I did ring Brentwood and managed to get 4 rooms for Fri, Sat, and Sunday. They are, on the down side, one double bed and one single bed each room but on the up side at the conference rate of $155/night for up to 3 people. So something reasonably priced and close to g/t but some sharing of beds may have to happen if this hotel is your choice and you want 3 in a room. I think they still do free airport transport so that saves money.
I will periodically check if there are cancellations/openings and try to switch some of those rooms to triple or quads but that weekend is typically very busy.
YHA was nice last year so anyone wanting to do that for less should book it soon as it fills up.
Email dewey at orcon dot net dot nz or reply here with your interest if you want in on the Brentwood.

What I was able to book back then was 4 rooms with one double and a single bed. So three people in a room max. There may be scope for a rollaway but not sure if that would be better than a couch.
I know team Auckland has no problems sharing a bed but I am going to check this afternoon if any of their 4 person rooms have opened up. Never know - maybe some sports group doesn't want to go to earthquake land!
But yes! I will hold one of the rooms for you.
