As aforementioned, there's been a venue change this year. The new one looks lovely though, and I'm sure will be a great success. You may even love it so much you want to stay there in future! It's a short bus ride from Kilbirnie, so while Brentwoodians will no longer be right next door, you're still at the best available accommodation, and will have no difficulties finding your way. Friday Night Fangirls will also be aware that we've outgrown our old staple Olive, and now have dessert/drinks at Fidel's. Out-of-towners may remember that as the scene of many an exhausted Monday brunch.

There's a beautiful old church to the right, sadly yellow stickered, and a hall to the left. You want the hall! There's a fair amount of parking in the street outside for drivers.

It's a good thing china_shop is watching the clock/calendar! Skimming last year's organisation posts tells me that this is going up a full two weeks later than last year, but I'm sure you've all been quietly plotting and planning anyway.

First off, and in addition to all our usual fun, I'm quite keen to take a leaf from our sister con sinpozium and have a couple of technical panels. The following are just a few things I'd be interested in, so if you have additional ideas please feel free to add them in comments.

1) Tumblr: anyone out there feel that they could explain how to make tumblr actually work? As an indication, my interaction with tumblr consists of following links, and occasionally scrolling fast through a tag. Could you explain, maybe using screen grabs, how to use tags most effectively, how to use tumblr savior, missing e, or whatever the latest fix is, what the difference is between an ask and a like and how to get your comments in the right place, and just generally how to get the most out of the platform?

2) Latest awesome extensions/apps etc that are making fannish life easier/better: this wouldn't need to be a presentation, but I think it'd be a cool short discussion, if there is anything you've discovered that someone else might not have.

And then we return to our regularly scheduled programming, namely:

1) Show Pimps -- is there an awesome new show (or a magnificent old one) that everyone should be watching? Let us know! Put together a few clips, or a basic primer (powerpoint, picspam etc) to advertise and convert the masses. [This includes media other than tv shows, natch.]

2) Ship Manifestos -- is there an OTP (or OT3 or...) that is oppressing fandom fairly leaping off the screen? Do likewise.

3) Panel Discussions -- everything you wanted to know and were afraid to ask. (You don't have to moderate, though you can if you'd like. Just chuck your questions down.)

As an administrative issue, the slots that are scheduled in against lunchbreaks are now "Warnings Attached" slots. No judgment whatsoever implied, YKINMK in full force, simply an acknowledgment that some people may prefer to avoid certain things.

It occurs to me belatedly that I really should have announced this here. Sorry about that. It's been so long since posting to lj was second nature, and that does make me sad. D:D:D:

As mentioned at various times and in various places, the confirmed dates for get/together 2013 are the weekend of the 5th and 6th October, with festivities commencing on Friday 4th, and farewells Monday 7th if you're around.

If you have a twitter account, then make sure you follow @get__together, as that does tend to be where I make announcements in the heat of the moment. If not, I promise all future updates will arrive here in a more timely fashion.

Start thinking about presentations you might like to make, questions you'd like to submit for discussion, and just generally getting in the mood. It's only nine weeks away!
