Hi all,

I know not everyone checks lj regularly anymore, heck, I never do, but hopefully you've still got notifications turned on for the comm!

First and foremost, this year's dates are: weekend of 4th and 5th October.

Secondly and excitingly: this is our tenth anniversary so we'll be going all out to be bigger and better than ever.

Thirdly and possibly tediously: if you have twitter, follow us there @get__together, and even if you don't, https://twitter.com/get__together is a good place to check in occasionally to see what random quick thoughts have occurred to me suddenly.

I would really, really like to see as many as possible of you there, especially old faithfuls from the early days who didn't make it last year. Come back to us! We miss you! It'll be like a reunion, a renaissance, a resurgence, and a get together all in one.

To keep everyone else up to speed with my planning spiral (wow, more than 140 chars seems like luxury :D) -- I've already organised a toyota previa minivan that I will drive to help bump up our car-to-fanperson ratio. This seats 8 (afaik, I'll check tomorrow it's not mysteriously a 7-seater). That is currently prioritised as transit around Wellington for me, Stick, Blade, the antichris, nmarlowe, jocondite, Mab and Dewey.

We might also have M (who is Team Auckland adjacent, currently based in the Waikato) coming to G/T, but that will depend on some other factors that we won't know for a little while yet.

That said, if we're still short a car, if someone else is comfortable driving who wasn't already then I can almost certainly arrange a rental car (can't get 2 vans for the cheap price) -- which will at least give us 5 more people's transit. At the moment it's looking like it'll be around $10 - 12/person per day, which I think is only a couple dollars more than the bus and gives us a LOT more flexibility. If we have 12-13 people lacking transport and get a car as well that per-person cost will probably go down a dollar or two, too.

Just in terms of numbers Cross Stitchery and Sethra are fairly likely attendees, so if Jasmine does come she might be a goer for the extra car? I'm *fairly* sure she mentioned driving as an option last year...?

Yes definitely, and before too long hopefully. In the meantime, have a look back at last year if you want to have an idea what we get up to. The basic template remains fairly similar, with changes depending on what the big fandom de jour is, or what brouhaha has just blown up. It's all good fun, and I promise we don't bite. ;-p

Yipyip, add me to the definites list. I will drive down from Tauranga with boyfriend, but he will be off being drunken with his mates and I still don't have a driver's license. So if anyone on the road down to Wellington from Tauranga wants a ride we could potentially pick them up on the way, but our car won't be available during the weekend. Sorry!
