Friday

SG1 will be entertaining itself all day, and would welcome visits from SG2. SG5, you're very welcome too, of course, if you feel like bowling up.

SG3 and SG4 both appear to be hitting town around 6pm, so the day proper will start thenceabout.

Two Tribes go to War!

Okay, no, not really. But there is a split programme planned for tonight.

1) The decorous Canadianians will be at the china shop, hosted by *shock horror* Chinashop, for an extravaganza of Due South, HCL, related RPS ect ect.

2) The not remotely decorous are hitting town for beer and strippers (tm Erilyn). Okay, that's not true. But we will be doing [something else] at the pixie palace, hosted by yours truly.

Saturday

We'll all head from our various locales up to the china shop for meet and greets from 10am.

11am: Slash Pictionary!!!1! So, so made of win.
12.30: Lunch and Erilyn's Vidshow (Part One)
1.30: Intros and Pimps (Part One)
Soccer RPS (Stickmarionette)
SGA (Morebliss)
2.30: Open Mike Night (Part One)
Online Friendship vs the 'Real Thing' (Chinashop)
Badfic (Morebliss)
3.30: Intros and Pimps (Part Two)
Pegg and Frost, Zombie Cops (Blademistress)
NCIS (Erilyn)
5pm: Assorted DVD watching and Ridiculous Amounts of Squee
8pm: Dinner in Town and Inevitable Embarrassment of Neighbouring Diners

Sunday

11am: Morning Tea and Squee
12: Lunch and Erilyn's Vidshow (Part Two)
1pm: Intros and Pimps (Part Three)
Rugby Pretty Boys (Morebliss)
Doctor Who/Torchwood (Arysteia)
Psych (Alasen)
2pm: Open Mike Night (Part Two)
Fanservice - Friend or Foe (Arysteia)
Our Boys - Handsome or Just Loved? (Erilyn)
3pm: Intros and Pimps (Part Four)
The Daily Show (Blueraven)
Banddom (Erilyn)
4pm: Season Premiere of Stargate: Atlantis

People start heading off to catch trains at that point, so it's the end of regularly scheduled programming, but those who are still around are most cordially invited back to the pixie palace to continue squeeing. It's a hard job, but someone's got to do it.

If you can't keep to the timetable you will be whipped! Okay no, seriously, nothing ever goes entirely to plan. But we always have one. Meh.

If I accidentally missed your moment in the sun, let me know and I'll add it.

Alasen, Erilyn and I have just done the shopping. We did very well if I say so myself. So subs this year are fifteen dollars each. As usual I wound up whacking it on the old plastic fantastic, so given my new sad status as a mortgaged to the eyeballs homeowner I would like it very much if everyone can have their fifteen dollars in cash ready to go when you arrive please. Thank you kindly.

For your troubles and hard earned dineros you get lunch both days, a decent assortment of chips, dips, crackers, lollies, biscuits, soft drinks, and some wine. Go Pak 'n' Save.

The weather is stunning in Wellington at the moment. For a value of stunning that reads "been pouring for four days and frickin' freezing for two". I advise everyone who even remotely feels the cold to bring an extra jersey. And a raincoat/waterproof jacket might be useful.

*grumbles*typical, like summer last week for work, like winter this week for hols*grumbles*

Right. More spam. Because it's both delicious and good for you.

Also in the interests of assembling the timetable, I need to check up on a few things.

1) Who has an intro or a pimp they plan on doing? At the moment I have Erilyn down for one of each: Banddom and NCIS. Blademistress is doing Hot Fuzz. Stickmarionette has called Soccer RPS. I *always* learn something new from you! I'm going to do Doctor Who/Torchwood myself. Alasen for Psych? Which I've never heard of, so yay if you do! Who else? Bueller? Anyone? Newbies, if you're wondering about the difference, an intro usually tends to follow this template, whereas a pimp tends to be just a clips reel and a "Look! Shiny! Watch this!" Both very welcome. We've never actually had an SGA intro, Morebliss, if you're interested in throwing something together... And anyone who really wants to can redo anything we *have* had... Or you can just lap up the slashy goodness, as it were.

2) Who has a panel/discussion they might like to run? I'm planning on doing one on Fanservice (hot on the heels of my Bro!Yay master work), and possibly also an amazing (or totally not depending how tired I am) cross reference chart on Squicks and Kinks, but I'd really like a couple more. The format's completely up to you, but what I envisage would be that you make some sort of presentation or pose some sort of conundrum (this could take any form, from my Incest the New Black powerpoint, to a reading of selected Bad!Fic excerpts, to playing some clips and asking some questions) and vaguely mod the ensuing conversation. It's not scary, really, I swear!

Other than that, I think we're good. We have pictionary, and the vid show, and the inevitable ep watching... And squee. Boatloads of that last one. See you soon.

But answer my questions! And volunteer! It's your g/t too!!!

Right then. Charmingly disorganised, as befits this year's homey theme.

I'm about to (read will at some point in the next day) post the timetable. Past attendees know we follow it like clockwork. *cough*total lies newbies*cough*

Before I can though... Can everyone, or at least one person from each subgroup, let me know when you're arriving?

SG1: Arysteia, Erilyn, Alasen. Clearly I know what's going on here.

SG2: Chinashop, Vaudevilles, Woollysocks. Clearly I mostly know what's going on here.

SG3: Blademistress, Stickmarionette, Shihadchick, Antichris. You're all coming together, no? Am I correct in thinking Jamethielbane is coming with you too? What time will you arrive in Wellington please? And when are you headed off?

SG4: Mabbrowne. What time does your train get in? And what time do you leave on Sunday?

SG5: Morebliss. You live local. Very local! Just watch for the timetable, then please let me know when you plan on turning up.

Ermmm... The SG designation was pure coincidence. But I like it. Go, Stargate Command. ;-p

Registrations: We have 12 registrations so far. If you're coming and you haven't posted one yet (or if someone you know is coming and hasn't filled one out), please do so (or get them to) ASAP. The registration form is here.

Dishes roster: In the absence of a dishwasher, we'll be instigating a dishes roster. Just so you know. :-)

Access to house: There are road works happening in my street, so while vehicle access is possible between 9 and 5 on Friday, no parking's allowed. This doesn't apply to the weekend. Any time after 5pm Friday is fine! But just so you know, Friday's a bit complicated. Regrettable but unavoidable.

Hello, people! Look at the date! OMG, where the hell did the first half of September go?!

Aaaaaanyway, any second now it's going to be time for fun, frolicking, and flailing fannishly with friendly fellow fen in the form of Get/Together 2007. Woo and hoo!!! So let's get started with the usual introduction/registration palaver and take it from there. I'll follow up with an info post in the next couple of days so we all know what's what. Cool? Any questions, please feel free to ask!

To quote from [livejournal.com profile] arysteia's post last year:
Please fill out the Registration Form below. Those of you who came last year have done it before, but please do it again, and ideally without looking back first. I'd really like to survey how fannish habits/memories/attitudes have changed in a year. Newbies don't stress, it's *not* an exam. There are no right answers. It's just cool to know a bit about each other before we all descend. Some of these things I would just like to know (because you are my luckless prisoners, bwa ha ha ha). Some will help in organising activities. Some are just funny. Some (hopefully) will start to make you excited. Because hey. [Two] weeks to go!

For the Friday evening of get/together I'm planning a Due South programme with maybe some related media thrown in for good measure depending on what we feel like. Who's up for that? Any thoughts on what you'd like to s(qu)ee (over)?

Note: This isn't part of the main G/T programme (which is very nearly in the works). There'll be other stuff going on for those who doesn't want to revel in Canadiana. :-)

Hey everyone! So, okay, I currently have a cable modem, a desktop PC, and very little technological knowledge. However, I am planning for there to be wireless at my house for get/together '07!

So. Useful information you can give me:

1. Do you have a router you could/are willing to bring? (If not, I'm going to try to borrow/rent one.)

2. Are you bringing a wireless-enabled laptop? i.e. How many connections do I need to cater for? Please comment even if the answer is no, so I can get a full headcount. Thanks!

Eeeeeeee! We're at T minus one month and one day! Get your party shoes ready!

As you've all heard by now in fits and starts, Lex Luthor has departed Smallville for Metropolis my friend A has finally conceded he's moving permanently to the UK, and Stately Luthor Manor has been boarded up and dust sheeted sold for a princely sum such as none of us shall ever see in our life times. [/small emo tear]

The show must, shall, and does go on however, and get/together 2007 will take place, as promised, the weekend of 28-30th September. The only real change, and one which is sadly unavoidable, is that the slumber party style the Manor made possible is no longer an option. China, Vaud and I have investigated all possibilities however, and believe we have come up with the best alternative.

China has very graciously agreed to host the festivities, by which I mean make available her home here in Wellington for daytime and evening activities (the panels, the presentations, the games, the viewing etc). She has a large open plan living space, and a smaller room for breakout time. Between us Vaud and I will be able to take care of the mod cons and technology so all will proceed exactly as usual as far as the actual content of the weekend goes. China cannot, however, accomodate or fully cater for people the way that I used to.

With regard to accomodation, we are looking at a group room at the Cambridge (in Cambridge Terrace, surprise!), which will enable the band to stay largely together, which I imagine would be most enjoyable. Sort of like the convention room parties of old. They are available for six or for ten, at a rate of twenty dollars per person per night, which is very reasonable. I know some of you have family in Wellington you can stay with, though of course you're very welcome to join the mob if you prefer. Those of you coming in from Sydney for the holidays who have already made arrangements are, of course, already arranged. I will require numbers from Kiwis sooner rather than later though, so we can confirm the current provisional booking.

With regard to food, we will be making a small charge to provide lunch both days and the usual snacks and drinks. We will have the usual dinner out, and order takeaways the other nights.

I realise this makes the weekend a little more expensive than in the past, but it will still be fantastic, and I hope as many of you as possible will still come. Please do get your thinking caps on and get back to me asap though.

Tentative programme to follow shortly. Though not tonight. ;-p

Who's sick of listening to me moan? Yes? You? Cool, me too.

Today, however, I am filled with a whole new joy and optimism. What brought this on, you ask? Well for one thing, I called Geeks on Wheels (no, seriously, 0800 4 A GEEK, www.geeksonwheels.co.nz) and they have fixed my network and all my computers, and for the paltry sum of $200 I am sitting here surrounded by Teh Intrawebs. Seriously, I am bathed in the warm embrace. Both my desktops and my laptop and M's laptop are humming around me, and it is paradise. It is the closest thing possible to being McKay in Tao of Rodney.

Ahem.

*gets over indecorous squirming*

No, no, one more barb. I have also kicked Telecom to the curb. Goodbye you sanctimonious thieving wankers. Hello Telstra Clear my very best new friend. How you doin'?

Right. To the point.

My fandom renaissance starts today.

That means vigorous posting in my own lj... and also that it's time to get the ball rolling on g/t 2007.

As a hostess who always feels crushed and exhausted and ready to beg for death by the end (only to want to call you all back as soon as the door closes behind the last of you) I must applaud my own brilliance last year in shifting it into the holidays. Not having to mark 75 exam papers during the whole thing made my will to live slightly stronger. So. Same holidays this year then, since it seemed to suit most. And I'm told the 29-30th September is a long weekend in NSW, so I call shenanigans on the whole thing and nominate those dates. I swear I won't get roped into an IT conference this time.

So... I know it's very early in the year, but I thought I'd mention it anyway, in my newfound spirit of joy. All the polls and nonsense will come later of course. But start examining your finances, and your leave, and...

And you know what? Please start thinking about your fifteen minutes of fame, which I am reinstituting. I missed it last year. I'm going to crack my whip (it matches my cowboy boots I bought in Arizona) and be a little bossy about formats and timetables this year. But it will be to the good, I swear. You will be glad. You will. Or else. No seriously. Spirit of joy.
