get__together's Sydney sister sinpozium is open for registration for 2012! In an exciting twist, this year it is on the NZ long weekend, Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd June, so we're hoping that'll make it a bit easier for any interested visitors to make it across the ditch.
So please check out the announcement for more info, and if you've got any questions, please ask away. And we'd love it if you could pass this info on to any other Antipodean slashers who might not know we exist :)

After a long, long, long hiatus, the Sydney sister of get/together is back on! We're planning towards June 2011, but are starting to gauge numbers now. We know it's almost exactly a year away but that just gives you time to plan! We won't be opening registration or collecting money until next year. Filling out the poll doesn't commit you to coming, but we'd appreciate only reasonably serious attendees filling in.
So check out the info at the Sinpozium community, and I really hope too see at least some of y'all there :)
Please pass this info on to other Antipodean slashers who might be interested, we're also trying to get the word out to people we don't already know.

I have finally managed to sort myself out. "Are you joking trying to book accommodation in Auckland for a long weekend on the Wednesday???" Why no, I am relying on the sheer useless miniscule horridness of the hotel I stayed at last year to ensure that it is empty. And lo, my faith is rewarded. Lilliput here I come.
I'll see most of you there, I assume, and will text on arrival. Naturally I want to lunch/dine/coffee (all/some of the above) with as many of you as possible. I'm going to have M with me, but she is awesome, fear not. Also you all met her when you stayed at Stately Luthor Manor, and we screamed "Porn! Anal sex!" at her boyfriend, now husband, so no censorship is required. That ship is long sailed.
I have queries:
1) The Edge is useless and will not let me book three-day passes online. If I succeed in ordering by phone, does anyone at all of you work/study in town and would be able to pick them up for me??? So I can avoid the heinous queues when I arrive exhausted, especially with my mundane friend...
2) Where on earth can I park my car Saturday morning to Monday midday without having to sell my first-born?

While on my travels around Armageddon, I picked up a flyer for a small con in Parnell Auckland with 3 trek Next Gen guests. Here are the details.
Parnell in November 18th this year.
The guests are:
John De Lancie - Q himself
Garrett Wang - Ensign Harry Kim
Richard Arnold - Misc Crew person (from IMDB)
It's at the Parnell Community Centre, Hobson Room, 545 Parnell Rd from 9am to 4:30pm. Tickets are $60.00 at the door and the autographs are extra (they don't say how much)

I'm coming to Auckland this weekend for Armageddon... Well, a flying visit for part of Armageddon. As usual my original plans have somewhat come undone... But I'm coming anyway. For reasons that don't need exploring at this juncture I've decided to get the neck-breaking bus up instead of drive. Anyhoo.
Any of those offers of couches still open? It'd only be Saturday night. And who wants to meet me in any case? Dinner Saturday? Lunch Sunday? Bueller? Anybody?

No, really.
I can't believe how busy I've been recently. I know it's an appalling cliche, but I honestly don't think I've *ever* been this busy in my life.
Of the good: my debaters have mad skillzors and have crushed all before them. Total hegemony is ours. [/no modesty here]
Of the bad: I somehow agreed to go a conference on "podcasting and related technologies in education". No, really. My agreement took the form of knowing what podcasting was when it came up. More fool me for opening my damn mouth. Now I get to spend three days in Christchurch with a bunch of nerds. Actually no, they're unworthy of that august title. Last time I went to an ICT conference I tried my hardest to bring about armageddon with my psychic powers while those around me complained their messages weren't appearing on the bulletin board. I couldn't think of a polite way to say put your fucking cursor in the fucking box before you start typing.
But enough about my special hell. Let's return to Special Hell.
Post as much as you can over the next week to get the ball rolling. If your arrival details have changed, please revisit that post. If you have requests, go to the request post. Above all, just be gleeful.
