Yes ladies, the madness has started.

not_nele has arrived, and immediately been put to work.

Enter the complete batshit insanity of arysteia.

Which was fine. Until we hit the narrowest staircase in the world. With a 3/4 turn in it.

And got stuck.

It was like that scene in Friends where Ross was too cheap to get the new couch delivered and they all got stuck while he impotently shouted, "Pivot! Pivvv-ottttt!"

But with giggling instead of shouting. And then I added insult to injury by remembering that I had the balcony doors open and we could just have walked outside.

Doh!

So when we managed to untangle ourselves we did that. And then while I was laughing I let go of the couch too soon and it hit the wall. Which would have been fine with any of the five other couches I moved today (alone!), but no, it was the one with the wooden frame.

So it put a huge dent in the gib.

Nele goggled, but nothing fazed I went and got the plaster and fixed it.

"Do this a lot, do you?" she asked.

Um, no? I was doing DIY last weekend?

In better news, the groceries have been delivered (remember your $20 because Woolworths is now rich and I am now poor), and meals are in the oven. I may be mad as a brush, but I have moments of brilliance too.

Roll on!

After careful consideration (read: far too much Chinese food) we've tentatively decided on a date.

How's the weekend of September 30-31?

I know that's earlier than we'd originally touted, but it's pretty much the only time that suits everybody, or as close to everybody as we're likely to get. It has the added bonus of being in the school holidays, which means my entire time can be yours and I won't have anything to worry about bar decorating the house, making up campbeds, cooking, and organising activities... [/shades of last year's exhaustion, and the exam marking I had to squeeze in too]

I'd also be keen to make it a three day, or two and a half day, weekend, and include Friday or Monday too.

So what do you think???

Right then! china_shop's been on me to get on this. Investigation reveals I only did it a month out last year, so we're ahead of the curve, but let's get some momentum up anyway.

First things first:

Please fill out the Registration Form. Those of you who came last year have done it before, but please do it again, and ideally without looking back first. I'd really like to survey how fannish habits/memories/attitudes have changed in a year. Newbies don't stress, it's *not* an exam. There are no right answers. It's just cool to know a bit about each other before we all descend. Some of these things I would just like to know (because you are my luckless prisoners, bwa ha ha ha). Some will help in organising activities. Some are just funny. Some (hopefully) will start to make you excited. Because hey. Six weeks to go! And also, y'know, that whole thing whereby you're sleeping at my house and you might like to be fed and watered while you're here.

Cut-tags are probably a good idea (though I'm wickedly not cutting this), and feel free to flock to the community if you'd prefer.

Secondly, technology:

We had a couple of glitches last year, but everything is up and running perfectly again now. There are *scratches head* three VCRs, five DVDs, and a data projector here. If you've got it, I'm pretty sure we can play it. So I guess this is a general call for material - bring your stuff! Old scratchy videos for nostalgia, dvds, fan vids in any format, etc. Don't be like me when I went to sinpoz the first time and be all shy and then realise everyone's cool and really *wish* you'd brought things!

There are three computers, all with internet access. The house is looped for wireless if you have a wireless connector on your laptop. Do bring the appropriate cords for your laptop if you want to plug it into anything.

Oh!!! I have the technology to build a man a robotic body to copy from VHS to DVD, as well as standard dvd burning capability. So bring VHS tapes and DVD-Rs as well as CD-Rs if that seems like the sort of thing you'd be interested in...

Thirdly, Fandom Intros:

I absolutely loved these last year, but I'm thinking we probably don't need to repeat the full fifteen minute versions this year given most people will have seen them. If you'd like to do a five minute recap to bring us up to speed on developments in your fandom, that'd be great. If you have a new fandom to pimp, however, we definitely want to hear about it.
