Preferred first name: Lyn or Erilyn is fine

My primary fandom: Popfandom (the sparkly boys just won't let go)

My secondary fandom: Stargate Atlantis

OTP forever: Jim/Blair, Bodie/Doyle, Wes/Gunn, Fraser/RayK, McKay/Sheppard, Clark/Lex, Mulder/Krycek, Chris/Lance, Chris/JC, Howie/Nick...there's more, but they're the BIG ones.

I've got a shiny new fandom I'd like to pimp. It is: Haven't really thought about this much yet. If Kyle XY keeps entertaining me, might ask if people are interested. Could bring the pilot of "Studio 60" if people are interested. I think most of my current fandoms are well-known - House, Veronica Mars, Stargate SG1 and SGA, Supernatural. For not new fandoms, I know [livejournal.com profile] i_naiad did a pop thing last year, I was thinking of seeing if I could put together a little thing, something different but still fun. And I've got odds and ends for other older fandoms - Sentinel, Highlander, Pros, Stargate etc that I could bring along. ETA: FASTLANE! Maybe I'll pimp that...a shiny, silly cop buddy show that was axed after 1 season cause it's budget was too high, but oh boy with the gay.

I'll pay cash when I arrive (unless you'd prefer paypal in advance)

Tea (only occasionally)

Trim milk

Coke/Sprite/(Diet)/Juice: all good (except actual Diet Coke, but Diet Coke with Lime or Coke Zero are good)

Cornflakes/Weet Bix: both good

White Toast/Brown Toast: both good

Vegemite and Jam

Food: don't eat seafood or spicy food (just cause I'm a wimp - even most dishes labeled medium can be too hot for me), other dislikes are just random and avoidable

My definition of slash is: same-sex subtextual relationship, but so long as its same-sex I'm not gonna go around saying "that's not slash".

I like slash because: oh god you're making me think! It's hot, it's fun, it's interesting?

I discovered slash by: I ran out of gen and het fic to read about Krycek, so started on those 'slash' stories, despite thinking they involved cutting. I discovered that they didn't necessarily (though this was M/K, there was blood at times), but that they were interesting in other respects.

My bullet proof kink: many things I like but if people get outed, I'll read almost anything

My major league squick: incest, chan, power imbalances

...I am so, so glad that I am not the only one whose initial thought on hearing the term 'slash' was 'eek, like slasher movies?!' ohh, I was so very innocent. HEE.

and, hi! *waves*

Hee! When I outed myself to friends, I obliviously didn't think of defining things for them, and found out through conversation that they thought 'slash' was giant cult for self-harmers. Who talk about cutting. And cutting related issues. Man, it was fun trying to sort things out.

I may or may not have also had that issue, yep. Oh dear. But, yes, my total first thought was "ick, I really don't like knives" and then I had it explained and was all "oh, wait, so it's gay stuff? GIMME!" :D But oh dear, yes, I bet that was fun. I was a lot more careful the second time I broached the subject with people outside fandom, I must admit.

I love how my friends didn't even blink. It was only a couple of weeks after the fact that they broached the wha? questions.

Oh, that is cool. I have a pretty even split (er, in RL, the online people are all pretty obviously fandom friendly ;) ) between the didn't-blink-and-then-asked-for-recs people and the can-we-possibly-not-really-talk-about-this-ever-thanks people. Their loss!

Good call, yes! *g*

It never ceases to amuse me how so many slashers - even if they may not have necessarily read in that fandom - were/are big X Files fans... Er, which is to say that XF is a major part of my fannish history, actually, but not in an online way ever, really.
