Yeah, I'm done with twitter. I won't be posting there any more, except to make my goodbyes. I'll keep reading for a while, because my newsfeed is pretty manageable now, but I expect that'll taper off. I'll give bluesky a go, but I can't lie, the current inability to mute keywords is a pretty big turnoff. I'm sort of keen to run a posting fest somewhere we all agree on though.

I do actually feel more and more that I'm done with fandom, or at least that fandom is done with me. Admittedly this could change in a New York minute if, say, James Gunn cast Superman and Batman properly, but idk how likely that is. I was lying in bed recently thinking maybe g/t20 (the twentieth one, not travelling back in time to lockdown) might be the last one, and while I think I've recovered from that moment of weakness, I welcome any and all attempts to get me back in the zone. Certainly I have big plans for the anniversary celebration, so maybe I'll incept myself.

I feel like more of my personal creative energy is going into non-writing hobbies these days, but I think that's less about fandom and more about having moved into being a professional writer. My main friends group is the g/t collection and that's been true for a while now, but I think it would be disingenuous to present that as a fannish enterprise these days.

I'm still hanging out on Twitter a bit, especially on my fandom public and rl public, because those are very specific crowds who seem to still be keen on the platform, but my main is increasingly just a reading list with occasional chatter to old friends who I don't have on our main discord. if bluesky becomes the consensus replacement then I'll go but I don't like not being able to have a locked account.

I'm in a really weird space where I consume content on some platforms and never interact (Weibo), and post content on others while never consuming fan output (fandom twitter), which definitely has its shortcomings and can feel a bit isolating at times. It's become less of a source of (new) community for me which has a lot to do with my discomfort with the way many of the fans do fandom.

Social Media: I'll probably keep checking as many platforms as I am currently keeping up as long as they stay populated, but boy it's hard to feel fully at home on bluesky when we can't lock. So I suspect RL will wind up more on instagram and fannish stuff might turn up more on mastodon. (I think the chances of someone figuring out more user friendly ways for bsky and federation to communicate with each other are probably decent? I hope?)

Fandom feelings: IDK, I'm always spiralling over something, but definitely in a less fic-focused way at the moment, but I think it would be easy to go back the other way on that front myself.

I deleted my twitter a while back; I didn't use it a lot, and the new ownership chapped my ass big time. I am willing to consider new options but most of my fandoming is on tumblr and Discord these days. I check out Reddit occasionally, and dutifully cross-post fic to Dreamwidth.

I am good at obsession so as long as I have something to be obsessed about I'll do fandom. I doubt I'll ever find another community of the sort that I found in Sentinel though, and I'm mildly impacted by both my age and occasional ageism. Overall I'm trundling on, but I can see it getting trickier to simply find congenial spaces. I can lurk par excellence if I have to but that gets lonely.

Social media and posting platforms: I don't have a hot take yet. I am splitting my attention between twitter, bluesky, discord. I like the little g/t discord but I miss a lot of my twitter timeline.

Fannish malaise: I am finding fandom a bit hard to navigate and keep my interest in at the moment, but it's partly because the fandom I'm in it's insanely hard to find good fic considering how *much* fic there is (and also I'm coming in late). I don't feel like I've outgrown fandom; fanfic is still a huge chunk of my preferred reading material and I love enthusing about my blorbos. But it's hard to keep track of where everyone is and at some point I want my energy to be on maintaining my relationships with my friends I love who don't give a shit about BTS. (My fave thing about being in BTS fandom is being in the same fandom as some very dear friends, which is also the thing I loved about being in CQL.)

Probably Twitter is dead, hard to see it coming back from this – but I’m still hanging around. I have indeed become addicted to reading Discord even if I don’t chat much. If some one has figured out bluesky I’d love to learn more. I miss my private setting and lists though so don’t know how much I’ll use it if it doesn’t add features.

It's definitely dying, thought not dead yet. I will try blueksy, but that lack of mutes and if they don't do private accounts will likely change the way I use tit, but I would miss the regular scroll. I do still check Twitter daily, mostly my fandom accounts - it's still where I see a lot of Kopp content/clips.

I miss LJ a little but I'm not sure I'd have longer form posting in me, I've gotten too used to the micro conversations and short thoughts. Structing a post sounds daunting rn lol.

I'm not sure I love it exactly the same way but it's still an important part of my life and how I interact with media. I still read fic at least once a week. I went through a period of time a few years ago where I basically didn't read fic for months at the time, turned up for Yuletide, went away for six months again. I could possibly see that happening again. Idk fandom has changed, but there is still enough there I like and enjoy.

I'm partially a social media manager for a living, so I can't abandon Twitter completely, but I use it a lot less. I have always seen Discord more as a texting medium than a social network so I use it slightly differently, but I'm on it every day for work purposes so I use it a lot. :P

Bluesky I have been on since early early days, back when it was frequently too broken to post on, and I am liking it a lot. The initial invited audience was extremely queer/trans friendly and the fandom audience has naturally gravitated there as a result, or at least in my fandoms.

Professionally, I see Twitter going the way of the dodo if Elon tries to charge all users, because any social network is only as good as the people posting there. If most of my audience leaves, my work accounts will probably not need it. I would love to have a yarn about this in person because I've been studying it intently for work and have a lot of thoughts! Too many to encapsulate here.

Personally I find fandom really energizing, but I find it tough to get into a fandom of any kind when my own life is chaotic and exhausting. I think maybe part of it is the commitment? Following stuff in real-time is so hard for me right now with my meds, pain, and life issues. I feel like social media has really accelerated the pace of fandom and if you can't leap on stuff as soon as it's relevant, yer out. So maybe...more slow fan consumption of things. Whatever that looks like.
