A great big thank you to the organisers - I had a lovely time.
Here are links to the vids shown during my Pros pimp session. Turns out the one I thought wasn't on line is now available. Enjoy.
Gwyneth Rhys "Broken English": http://www.thecircuitarchive.com/tca/archive/vids/BrokenEnglish.php
Ancastar "Hazy Shade of Winter" and "I Want You": http://www.ancastascorner.com/vids.html
Crimson: "Thirty Years of Sunshine": http://archive.nu/crimson/cgi-bin/dir/fanvid.htm"
If you liked them, please let the vidders know. Thank you!

Date: 2008-10-10 01:07 pm (UTC)The two main archives are:
The Circuit Archive: http://www.thecircuitarchive.com/
The Hatstand: http://hatstand.slashcity.net/
It's worth reading http://hatstand.slashcity.net/bios/bios.html to get a feel for names of some minor characters who tend to crop up in stories.
Rec sites:
Ali's Pros Recs (http://www.alijot.net/The_Professionals_Recs.htm)
Ancastar's Newbie Pros Recs (http://www.ancastascorner.com/10_pros_stories.html)
If you like banter and plot, you'll find a lot to love in Pros. I suggest you start with Ancastar's list (although I'm not totally sold on "Fruit of the Spirit", which is only available as a 'zine anyway - I find it a little too sweet), and I'd add the following:
1. 'Never the Words They Say' by Slantedlight (http://www.thecircuitarchive.com/tca/archive/17/neverthe.html) (a Scottish croft story - sort of a Pros equivalent of the Canadian shack)
2. 'Hyperion to a Satyr' by Sebastian (http://www.thecircuitarchive.com/tca/archive/8/hyperionto.html). Everyone should read at least one Sebastian story.
3. 'Gift of the Moggy' by The Hag (http://www.thecircuitarchive.com/tca/archive/8/thegift.html)
4. 'Fly on the Wall' by Lezlie Conch (http://www.thecircuitarchive.com/tca/archive/5/flyon.html)
I've stayed away from the dark side (which I personally love, but I understand it's not everybody's cuppa tea) so you should be safe enough. Pros doesn't warn as a rule, the Circuit Archive has a search function which allows you to include/exclude themes, and the Hatstand includes 'Notes' which might say "This Story appears in a story list" - worth checking the list section on the site to see if that means it's a Christmas story or a dark rape drama.
Hope that helps!
