We have our own community. I have informed my loved ones that they have to get out of the house Nov 26/27th. You all appear to be coming. Or trying. This thing is definitely happening now. Resistance is futile.

I'm going to make a call and say that we're going ahead with those dates, since most people said yes, a couple said maybe, and noone said no to it as a possibility. I now need you all to make a call about which day if any you want to include as a third - the Monday or the Friday. It would seem sensible, especially if you're flying in.

I've just had a quick look at the Air New Zealand website, and boy, time difference is a lot more annoying Sydney-Wellington than Wellington-Sydney. Ooh! I've just checked Qantas, and they're considerably cheaper. Bah humbug AirNZ!!! Anyway. If you took Friday off you could get in here in the early afternoon, see a bit of the town, we could all go for dinner and drinks, have an orientation etc, slash away merrily all weekend, and you could fly out crack of dawn Monday and still make it to work on time! (Sadly there are no Sunday night flights. Meh.) But have a look and talk among yourselves, guys.

In the interests of keeping costs down, and also upping the whole slumber party quality, I'm hereby extending an invitation to all the Aussies to bring a sleeping bag and crash at Stately Luthor Manor¹. You all seem to know each other pretty well, and it'll be fun. If you'd prefer a hotel room, I can, of course, recommend one.

So. Please join this community, investigate your bookings, and let's start talking turkey. Yaye!!!

Vids are always good for filler too, especially when the brain has lost the ability to comprehend anything strenuous like plot and can just be mesmerised by the pretty pictures and music.

If you're thinking of doing something like an hour long thing, you might want to think of burning them to dvd. Would probably be a lot easier than just hooking up a computer.

Also, what about some of the old school vids? The ones that are still on tape and haven't been redone for digital media? There are some amazing ones that we have floating around here that I've never seen converted.

There's, at the very least, an amazing RayK vid that only on tape. As long as the vcr will play NTSC we should be good. :)

Cool. Is it going to be a democratic voting, set list, decision as to what people want on the day? Also, what kind of spread of fandoms is on the books for vids? Because I know that Hannah has over a gig worth of vids on her external in probably 25 or more fandoms.

I may have underestimated Hannah's vid collection by about, oh, um, 7 gig and that's not including most of the VividCon vids. I actually got off my backside and checked instead of guessing. Oops. :)

Anyway, that sounds cool. So many vids to choose from in so many fandoms, it's going to be hard to limit it.

Filler definitely good. I have multiple videoplayers as well as dvd and laptop all hooked together through the projector so bring anything you would like to have a look at, in addition to the stuff Kirrily puts together.

Only problem with that is the PAL vs NTSC issue. It's a pain.

Yeah, I've taped something that was fine. A little fuzzy, but I think the orginal source wasn't the best anyway, so it could have come from that.

No, I think it's just that my vcr is magic, where other vcrs just do internal conversiony ntsc-pal, mine will actually play and record ntsc, pal and secam (as i remembered last week after accidentally taping a pal broadcast in ntsc. oops). At least it doesn't work on my old vcr which plays ntsc, so that's what I figure.
