So, um, I've done not one jot of preparation (despite one of the oft-repeated phrases of my fandom: proper preparation prevents poor performance), but there are assorted DVDs bouncing around for the downtimes, and hey, how long can it possibly take for me to think about what to say about my beloved fandom? Hmm?

How're the rest of you doing?

I'd love to talk about some aspect of writing this weekend. I'm thinking of one (or more) of the following topics:

1. Vanilla m/m sex scenes.
2. Misunderstanding fic: what works and what doesn't.
3. Characterisation -- finding fresh ways of illustrating characters vs relying on canon-based tics.
4. Um, I'm sure there were others.

Any ideas, preferences, thoughts? What do you want to talk about? What's been bothering you/interesting you lately about fanfic? What have you noticed?

Let's get a little buzz going. :)

(Btw, arysteia's been struck down with internet-deprivation for the last eight days, but word on the street is she'll be back around any day now.)

I am frantically working on my fandom pimp, b ut experiencing a fandom renaissance as I do so.

I'd be interested in a bit of a discussion on characterisation in rps vs media fic, because I have recently realised that I find it a lot easier to write rps. Also, it is something readers can have opinions on as well.

Cool! I've only written one RPS story, but I've been reading more and more (and am currently halfway through reading a wonderfully weird RPF/FPS crossover-type thing). Sounds great. Is there anything we should think about/bring along examples of to discuss (assuming any of us have time to think/seek out said examples)? :-)

As N said, working on pimp stuff, and seeing as how it seems like brothers and couch shopping are the new black, how about we talk about boundaries and taboos [kind of like Bernice's staple kinks and squicks] and where and why people draw the lines where they do.

All those ideas you've got up there sound great. I've got one that's semi-related to writing and fandom participation, but it's far too late for me to be articulate or thinking straight right now. May come back with that later. XD
