Continuing my long and proud tradition of going to edumacational conferences the week before g/t, I will, in fact, be in Auckers at a conference the week before g/t.
I'll be at the conference most of the weekend, but may be able to meet for dinner, and then if anyone's interested I was thinking of staying for a couple more days. Who wants me?

Date: 2010-07-29 07:53 am (UTC)although I am kind of a Dean girl of long standing, I think Jared (esp when he has a fringggge!) is a bit more attractive than Jensen. I kind of - dare I say it? - I kind of think the hideous-when-he-cries thing is a part of that? In real life, people don't look gorgeous when they're crying (and in fact I assume that Jensen just can't cry on cue or, at least, can't shed one single tear of emo manpain on cue, which I don't blame him, so of course he looks cute, he's not actually crying) ANYWAY MY POINT: realism! sincerity! intimacy! All of these things are nice!
Also did you marathon SPN for the first time seeing it, or?

Now Jensen, yes, you're right, he's too beautiful to be real. But remember, I teach classical art. He's a perfect sculpture to me, at the height of Athens' power. Marble, cool and chiselled. It's only appropriate that his tears should be crystal too.
As for the marathon, hellz no. I've been watching since Day 1. Actually Day 2 -- I watched all of S1 in a go (pimped at Get Together Number 1 actually back in '05) and then all the rest live. But
I'm actually a little confused, but interested: I assume that Jensen just can't cry on cue or, at least, can't shed one single tear of emo manpain on cue -- I agree with the first part, but what do you mean by the second? Isn't that exactly what he does?

With the fringey bits but not too fringey a la Dean in Gilmore Girls? this hair (http://hippieracer.files.wordpress.com/2008/11/jared-padalecki.jpg). But yeah even then it has the flippy bits. I wonder what he'd look like if he shaved it all off? (Wow, you google image Jared Padalecki, you learn two things: 1. his hair looks awesome in fanart! he should take some fanart to his next hair appointment and 2. there are a LOT of J2 manips out there. Wow.)
Did you ever watch Dark Angel? Because I just went into this really long spiel about the likelihood of Normal describing Alec in the terms you just used to describe Jensen, but then I had the BLISTERING REALISATION that Normal exists in the real world, and his name is Michael Laws. I kind of want to hurl now.
Whooooa at someone marathoning the whole lot for their first time! I was a big fan when it first came out, kind of went off it in season three, came back for the first half of season 4 (the crappy half!) and then last week marathoned the back half of season 4 and season five in erm not very long. It's like a brand new show really, IMO.
re: Jensen: I always assumed they were faking the single emo tears, since people are usually crying or they're not crying. Eyedrops, etc.
