OHAI GUISE LOOKIT ME BEING EARLY
Sep. 5th, 2010 05:27 pmPreferred first name: Tui
Reader/Writer/Vidder/All of the Above: Reader, sometime writer (well... I do Yuletide. And I totally did two kink meme fills a month ago. And I have a lot of WIPs?) Also I'm getting to be a big Vid Fan.
My current primary fandom: Young Wizards, always and forever. But also Supernatural (again) (sigh) (ironic b/c I'm pretty sure last g_t I explained to many many people how I'd definitely forever broken up with it)
My current secondary fandom(s): Due South, Doctor Who, SPNRPS, erm ... IDK, a tonne of other stuff. I'll watch vids in any fandom. Also, you know how there are people who are like, vidding is my fandom? But what they really mean is they are snobby and like really good vids in any fandom, but because they'll watch any fandom they have high standards? So yeah, lately femslash is my fandom. In that sense. Also I've been reading some Harry Potter. and White Collar although NGL, mostly I've been reading China's.
Fandom(s) I’ve broken up with: SGA, I guess. I haven't read any SGA for ages. Firefly. Battlestar Galactica.
Fandom(s) I just can’t quit: Oh Supernatural.
OTP forever: Choosing to define this as OTPs that make me cry if they're broken: Tom/Carl, Parker/Eliot/Hardison, Merlin/Arthur (honourable exception for Merlin/Arthur/Gwen/Morgana with a side of Lancelot), McKay/Sheppard, Remus/Sirius (OTP OF DEAD), Ron/Hermione, Clark/Lex, John/Aeryn, Rory/Paris, Fraser/Kowalski (I TRY but I just can't get into F/V)
OTP sometimes: Nita/Kit, Tom/Carl, Kit/Ronan, McShep, Sam/Dean, Dean/Castiel, Dean/Jo, Carter/O'Neill, Rory/Paris, J2, Tim/Steph, Tim/Kon, Steph/Cass, Tim/Bart, Bart/Kon, Tim/Dick, imma stop listing DCU pairings before this gets out of hand, Bruno/Boots, Kara/Lee, Angel/Cordelia, Anya/Money, Buffy/Angel (SHUT UP), Willow/Tara, Gunn/Fred, Parker/Hardison, Buffy/Faith, Xander/Anya um um, I read a lot of fanfiction, y'all.
OTP never, baby, OT3/OTTeam/OT?: Team Tardis in most variations. Nita/Kit/Ronan, Fraser/Kowalski/Vecchio, Bart/Tim/Kon, Hardison/Parker/Eliot, Fred/Gunn/Wes, Harry/Ron/Hermione, Neal/Peter/Elizabeth, lots of others, I'm a big fan of the OT3.
My comment on slash is: I have to have a comment on it? Yikes. Um, it's not the shining force for good that some people think it is? Did you know subtext is an anagram of buttsex?
I like slash because:It's shiny. Sometimes it has less icky gender dynamics. (Sometimes it has *more* icky gender dynamics, that one's not a plus.) Uhhh. I like exploring same-sex chemistry in a way TV etc won't? Wow, I was way smarter last year, this is what I said then: "It's diabolical and nutritious! Sometimes I like slash because it develops a relationship between two characters that I feel have great chemistry (Rory/Paris.) Sometimes I like it because it's the best way to read a show (Clark/Lex, McKay/Sheppard) - i.e. it's more revealing. Sometimes I like it because two characters are really in love, or have a relationship that would be flirtatious or romantic if they were opposite sexes, but heterosexism means that relationship won't be explored fully on-screen (Fraser/Kowalski, Tom/Carl). I always enjoy the element of subversiveness to slash and the opportunity to read about queer characters."
I discovered slash by: This one Remus/Sirius fic, back in the day.
My bullet proof kink: d/s, I guess? Dirty talk.
My major league squick: Extreme underage, necrophilia, monging (fuck you very much, SPN), etc. scat, obvs. Erm, I feel like spelling these ones out actually makes me look bad. IT'S A VERY KINKY FANDOM, OK. Canonically gay people having het sex. Increasingly, the only-gay-for-you trope, although that's such a staple in buddy-slash that I go back and forth. Non-con that isn't identified as non-con. Lifestyle BDSM. Bloodplay.
My guilty pleasure: Kidfic allll the way.
I first found out about (my first) g/t from/by: A bunch of people on the flist have been going for awhile and then I met
china_shop and she said come, so I did.
Coke/Coke Zero/Sprite/Juice: Water.
Tea/Coffee: I'm fussy so I'll bring my own (apple tea, probs, if anyone wants to go splits on a tin?)
Indian/Thai/Italian: I'm easy. also, I like all of those foods.
I would like 15 Minutes of Fame: SORT OF MAYBE YES?
I will use it to: Showcase the joy of multifandom vids! Or, alternatively, the woe of meta vids. I'm not sure?
YAY I'M EXCITED.Trying to make up for my (post-g/t) registration by being FIRST this year. Darnit. Second?

Date: 2010-09-05 05:41 am (UTC)Well done, you!
Speak to me, re vids, *lol*. I'm putting together a sort of Oscars show, and those sound like they should possibly be categories...? Let's liaise in any case.

Date: 2010-09-05 06:11 am (UTC)I really said woe to oppose it to joy - I don't think all meta vids are woeful (and definitely not all multifandom vids are joyful). But also, because I think that the meta vids which stick with me the longest are the ones that say something intensely critical that I can't unsee (famously, of course, women's work and how much is that geisha in the window, which made me break up with firefly.) Vids are a much, much more compelling way to make an argument than any number of rants on metafandom, you know?
Although I might be wibbly-wobbling here between meta vids and critical vids. Because this vid (http://zimshan.livejournal.com/217998.html?style=mine) is clearly talking about quite a different thing than Women's Work is. IDK.
