Inconvenienced by rugby! (Only in NZ!)

I've been mulling this over for a while, but Dewey very efficiently brought it back to my and China's attention today, namely that our general date-vicinity is smack dab in the middle of plastic waka festival 2011.

I haven't done the full due diligence but my gut feeling is 1) acommodation/flights will be hard to come by, and 2) what there is will be expensive. Dates may have to shift this year.

So that China and I have all relevant information before we do complicated quantum physics, can you please comment here (comments are screened in case you say anything identifying) with said relevant information.

Relevant information would include:

I am a student and I go to X university and have exams Y

I am an Australian and going to Sinpoz but I'd totally come to g/t if it was Z

My fandom has vitally important concert Q

or anything else similar. No guarantees of course, but best efforts as always.

Yep, which is why I pointed out the dates. They are just screwing with you now. At least I should be able to get to Christchurch if I have to do a visit during Sep/Oct. Palmy is going to be a problem, though.

I will hopefully be done and back in New Zealand by mid-September, but definitely can't make anything before that. Not sure about anything after either, but in theory I'm free from then on.

Other than that I'm clear. Major consideration would be lodging, but as I said, I am willing to book a group of rooms early (as long as cancellations are allowed by hotel) and can hold them for non-Wellington folks. Esp. if we wanted rooms in Kilburnie to be closer.

It is also very possible I could come up earlier on the g/t Friday to help with stuff or do some things from Dunedin. My specialty is disk burning. *g* Or just let me know what would help you most.

I am an Australian, and going to sinpoz and would come to g/t and I am pretty good with most times of year! Knowing dates sooner rather than later would be good, as my work is hard to get time off on with short notice in the last part of the year.

My gut feeling is to push into November...? Which is actually when we had the very first one, lo these many years ago. I'll try to thrash it out with China next week, and we'll make a decision asap.

My fandom (probably) has vitally important concerts 25th Sept and/or 30th Sept (which would then mean I would still be in Australia on the weekend dates of 1st and 2nd Oct).

Having said that oh god we realised last night those dates overlap with the world cup and ALL OF THE DO NOT WANT TO TRAVEL. Oy. Good luck with the timetabling.
