Registration 2013
Sep. 8th, 2013 12:49 pmThere goes another year
Who are you and where can we find you (preferred name/user names): Call me Mab and I'll answer.
What platforms do you use most these days (lj/dw/twitter/tumblr/AO3 -- yay, nay, or no longer?): I use LJ and DW, and post to AO3 as mab_browne. I'm dipping my toe in this tumblr thing as scarletmanuka.
Are you a reader, a writer, an artist, a vidder, all of the above, or something else entirely: I read and I write, more of the reading than the writing this year.
Wax lyrical (for a moment!) about your current fandoms and OTPs: The Sentinel is getting a very little boutique fandom for those of us who want to read about Jim and Blair rather than generic sentinels and guides, but I'm still there. The Professionals is pottering along nicely and is very excited about a planned colour-corrected and remastered release; and despite no new material in over a year, my Maiden Rose love is still strong.
Reminisce with one perfect crystal emo tear for the ship that sank or the fandom that finally faded away: Well, I still haven't watched the final episode of Stargate Atlantis.
Any squicks or kinks (be clear which is which, *g*): Kinks - angsty misunderstandings (but plausible, please, for god's sake) and partner betrayal that comes out of external conflict and not just one partner being a douche. Squicks - still not an RPF person, but I don't faint if I meet reference to it. Not really getting the Mpreg appeal either. Any extreme sexual thing (extreme being by fannish standards) will be carefully examined according to how well I know/trust the creator.
Fannish highlight of your year: This year's fannish highlight was actually finishing writing something. Yeah. Quiet. Otoh, I can now talk Stony and ScienceBros and general fandom issues with my middle child. This is sort of an unexpected perk to parenthood.
Favourite new show/source text since last year: I'm not fannish about it, precisely, but I still quite like Haven.
Favourite AO3 or tumblr tag: I track Maiden Rose, The Sentinel (where I meet a lot of Judas Priest and horror movie posts) and Starsky and Hutch on tumblr. This will surprise no-one who knows me.
Where do you do the bulk of your fannish interaction? Is there a hotbed of awesome out there that someone might be missing out on? Any specific comms or tumblrs or rec sites or tags we should be following? I potter between LJ, DW, AO3 and Tumblr. Since I'm not really into fandoms du jour, this doesn't take a lot of my time. :-(
Are you taking part in Yuletide or Festivids this year? Are there any other fantastic exchanges we should all know about? Sign-ups are finished, but I love
spook_me a fest for horror stories posting at the end of October.
Coke/Coke Zero/Diet Coke/Sprite/Juice: I'm trying to eschew sweet drinks, but will probably have a drop of diet Sprite if I spot it.
Tea/Coffee: Tea please
Blue Top/Calci-Trim Milk: Trim please
I would prefer junk snacks/I would prefer crudites: A bit of both.
I will likely come for dinner Friday (Noodle House and dessert): Yes. I will possibly be able to entice my middle girl there. She tells me it depends on how much older other participants will be besides her....
I will likely come for dinner Saturday (Indian): Yes.
I will likely come for dinner Sunday (Thai): No.
