Preferred first name: Sue
My primary fandom: The Professionals
My secondary fandom: Jossverse generally
OTP forever: Bodie/Doyle
I've got a shiny new fandom I'd like to pimp. It is: Most of mine have more than a few miles on the clock. However if anyone is interested in UFO, Ultraviolet, Sandbaggers or Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, I'd be happy to bring some. I hear
mab_browne may be bringing the newer Pros release, so I won't bother, I still have the older set. And I'm probably pimpable when it comes to 'Life on Mars'. 'Hustle' or 'Rome', just haven't seen any yet. Consider that a suggestion.
I'll pay cash when I arrive if that's OK.
Tea/Coffee/Milo any/all, with a leaning towards tea except for the first caffeine hit in the morning - depends on mood
Trim milkFull fat
Coke/Sprite/(Diet)/Juice Just water, maybe an occasional Diet Coke or juice.
Cornflakes/Rice Bubbles/Weet Bix
White Toast/Brown Toast either
Marmite/Vegemite/Jam all/any
I'm a vegetarian/I'm allergic to/I don't/won't eat: pretty much omnivorous
My definition of slash is: same gender, close relationship (as friends or enemies), redefined as romantic and/or sexual.
I like slash because: complex question (& answer)
- I've always liked genres with an emphasis on action, starting with westerns, comics, science fiction, cop shows. I like tough men and women with guns, swords, stakes. I like teams and partnerships.
- I am attracted to certain characters (and that is something that, for me, crosses gender boundaries - I can identify with either a male or a female character in my head), it's quite easy to 'feel' myself being 'with' that character, or characters in the story.
- I love relationships with a certain level of competition, a battle for dominance between two characters who are essentially equals, as long as I can see the caring and loyalty as well. And I love the idea that the attachment, the attraction, could have a sexual angle, although I vastly prefer 'Discovered in the subtext' to canon relationships - I want to imagine it, to invent it for myself.
- OK, 2 men together = hot (maybe less complex?).
I discovered slash by: reading online. At first it was just a side-dish; I was in my Spuffy phase. Then Spuffy became canon & the quality of fanfic went out the window. Someone who has regretted it ever since said that his ex-girlfriend used to be a Professionals slash fan. She lent me a box of her circuit stories and with those and the online archives, I was hooked.
My bullet proof kink: One of my tough guys tied up and helpless/struggling. Think Doyle in "The Man Without a Past".
My major league squick: Do NOT like incest or chan where the relationship has an inbuilt unequal power balance, eg student/teacher, father/son, mad sister/sane brother.
