How does better (arguably) queer rep in canon affect your relationship with fandom? Fic still necessary? Just fun now? Still better thought out than lazy shoehorning? Worse than ever? Too many puriteens? Sound off here: Hot take -- I do miss the days when you had to work to find gaps in canon. Not saying suffering is good (suffering leads to the dark side!) but I personally don't feel particularly compelled to read fic for relationships I already feel satisfied by. And I'm officially a curmudgeon now, so I certainly don't want to read fic for canon relationships I don't feel satisfied by, I probably already abandoned the show.

I have an idea for something I would like us to discuss and I would like it to get into the main panel section(s): Y - how our relationships with fandom are evolving as we age, as fandom ages, as the world evolves; maybe also how the firehouse of ~content~ and the asynchronous nature of streaming is making it harder to form interactive as opposed to passive fandom experiences; ooh, eta: are there *any* moral obligations on fiction? like, clearly the morality police can fuck off, but what about fascism and so on, does fiction normalise some political leanings, something something, let me think more...
