Dates for 2012/Comics Event/Twitter Feed

Hi everyone. Can you believe it's that time of year again?

The dates for get/together this year will be Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th October. If you're in a position to take Friday 5th and/or Monday 8th off work, then there'll be the usual Slackers' Lunch and Wind Down type activities, but I'm also exploring having some more structured/focused events too.

Given my current proclivities (and the fact that this is the best year ever for comics movies) I'm looking at hosting a Comics event at my place, for example, probably Friday afternoon and into the evening, before FGF. So if you're interested in that, and can swing it, let me know. Also, as you do figure out when you might be arriving, if you could comment here that'd be great, so we can plan for dinner and any other activities that might be mooted.

Also, naturally, start thinking about any new/old fandoms/pairings you might like to pimp, and any topics for discussion, whether to lead or just throw out for one of the mods to run. I know meelie is looking at doing Teen Wolf this year, so get in early and reserve yours. \o/

Lastly, there is now a twitter account for g/t; it's @get__together (with the two underscores like the comm). I won't be spamming it, but any brief updates and random thoughts will likely go live there first. ETA: Thanks to china_shop there is also an LJ/RSS feed at: gettogethertwit.

Hi. Sorry for the late reply, I wasn't sure who exactly submitted it for inclusion (spoiler: it wasn't me).

Get/Together usually consists of: games like Slash Pictionary (pretty much what it sounds like, with outrageously porny clues) or Slash Consequences or once Crude-o (imagine Cluedo but with sexing instead of killing), various presentations on fandoms du jour or of the past (put together by individual attendees), sometimes meta presentations on fandom issues of interest, fandom primers (eg all you need to know about comics if you've only seen the movie), moderated discussions on fan fiction and/or fandom themes and/or meta issues, a vid show (differently themed each year), the last couple of years we've had a tribute to characters of colour or awesome female characters, and of course lots of eating and drinking and laughing and catching up with friends. Non-presenting attendees often bring their knitting or similar, *g*. It's grown from a slumber party held at my house to a more formally scheduled weekend programme at a hired venue, but it's still pretty relaxed. This will be the eighth year it's held.

I'd rather not say where exactly it takes place, but Wellington's not big so it's not an issue in terms of where to go.

Hello arysteia, not a problem. We followed the link here because whoever submitted it did not leave an email (though that's not that unusual). If you'd rather it not be included that's fine. Normally the Events Calendar listings are for larger, open events rather than for more informal get togethers. Since the purpose of listing it is to get the information out to as many people as possible we include the venue where the event is being held and also prefer a website link where people can get things like times and costs and so on.
