Edited to reflect new information
Aug. 20th, 2006 01:12 pmRight, so this is the official When I am Arriving post. Just so I know when to expect ravening hordes. Please add all future announcements, updates, ETAs and changes here.
not_nele is on an afternoon flight on Thursday, and leaving with her compatriots Monday morning.
sethra2000 is flying in on Thursday night and leaving Monday evening.
shihadchick and
the_antichris are driving down on Thursday, heading on up to SLM on Friday, and leaving Sunday evening.
engenda arrives in Wellington at 11.25 pm on Thursday night and departs at 3.40 pm on Monday afternoon.
erilyn and
iibnf are arriving on the same flight, and heading off into the northern yonder on Monday morning.
meelie and
alasen get in around 2pm Friday afternoon, but appear to have lust for a bakery in Cuba Mall (Konditorei? Dorothy's?) and are on a mission thataway before SLM. They're getting the ferry south on Monday morning.
cross_stitchery and
mab_browne are coming down by train on Friday. [arriving afternoon or evening?]
kiwisue will be in town with the familia, arriving at SLM Friday [you said evening, but I think you could aim for afternoon if you want], and flying out Monday afternoon.
blademistress and
stickmarionette are arriving at 8:30 am Saturday morning and flying out Monday at 9:30 am.
wooly_socks is going to be a day girl, and come to individual sessions.
From all of which I deduce that the bulk of people are here for at least part of Friday. Don't worry if you're not, we won't start pictionary or anything important without you. I suspect most people will have naps. And the rest of us will watchporn highly edifying edjumacational programmes. But we will have an orientation dinner, methinks. And cocktails.
china_shop and
vaudevilles are you taking the Friday off work???

Six weeks to go!
Aug. 20th, 2006 06:25 pmRight then!
china_shop's been on me to get on this. Investigation reveals I only did it a month out last year, so we're ahead of the curve, but let's get some momentum up anyway.
First things first:
Please fill out the Registration Form. Those of you who came last year have done it before, but please do it again, and ideally without looking back first. I'd really like to survey how fannish habits/memories/attitudes have changed in a year. Newbies don't stress, it's *not* an exam. There are no right answers. It's just cool to know a bit about each other before we all descend. Some of these things I would just like to know (because you are my luckless prisoners, bwa ha ha ha). Some will help in organising activities. Some are just funny. Some (hopefully) will start to make you excited. Because hey. Six weeks to go! And also, y'know, that whole thing whereby you're sleeping at my house and you might like to be fed and watered while you're here.
Cut-tags are probably a good idea (though I'm wickedly not cutting this), and feel free to flock to the community if you'd prefer.
Secondly, technology:
We had a couple of glitches last year, but everything is up and running perfectly again now. There are *scratches head* three VCRs, five DVDs, and a data projector here. If you've got it, I'm pretty sure we can play it. So I guess this is a general call for material - bring your stuff! Old scratchy videos for nostalgia, dvds, fan vids in any format, etc. Don't be like me when I went to
sinpoz the first time and be all shy and then realise everyone's cool and really *wish* you'd brought things!
There are three computers, all with internet access. The house is looped for wireless if you have a wireless connector on your laptop. Do bring the appropriate cords for your laptop if you want to plug it into anything.
Oh!!! I have the technologyto build a man a robotic body to copy from VHS to DVD, as well as standard dvd burning capability. So bring VHS tapes and DVD-Rs as well as CD-Rs if that seems like the sort of thing you'd be interested in...
Thirdly, Fandom Intros:
I absolutely loved these last year, but I'm thinking we probably don't need to repeat the full fifteen minute versions this year given most people will have seen them. If you'd like to do a five minute recap to bring us up to speed on developments in your fandom, that'd be great. If you have a new fandom to pimp, however, we definitely want to hear about it.
( On to the templates!!! )
